Mumbai – which is the India’s largest city if a query is raised then definitely Mumbai will be the word by all to name it as the India’s largest city.
Mumbai serves as an important hub mostly is terms of economy of the country. The economy generated by Mumbai are about forty percent of India’s foreign Trade, more than 39 billion Rupees in terms of corporate taxes, about twenty per cent of all custom duty collections, ten percent of all factory employment, in terms of Income Tax collections it is forty percent of all Income tax collected, twenty per cent of Central excise collections.
Mumbai’s per capita income is almost three times the national average standing to Rs 48,954. Out of Fortune global500 companies four are based in Mumbai then the many of India’s numerous conglomerates such as State Bank of India, Tata Group, reliance, Godrej… has their office based in Mumbai. World Trade Centre (Mumbai) is the prominent place, many financial institutions and foreign bank have their branches in this area.
Bhabha Atomic Research Center is in the arm of Mumbai. City’s workforce is largely due to state and central government employees. Mumbai has large number of semi-skilled or unskilled labour population who makes their livelihood as mechanics, hawkers and taxi drivers.
Media industry has given another reason for economy boom as major television and satellite networks and publishing houses have their headquarters in Mumbai city.
In short it can be termed that by the analysis complied by Mastercard Worldwide in terms of Financial flow the 10th world’s biggest centers of commerce tag was given to Mumbai
